Italian Government announced that it intends to close two important and vital consulates in Australia

Hello friends and fans of Italian Week.

Much material is in the process of appearing on http://italianweek2009.blogspot.com/ and Facebook from the 2009 edition of Italian Week. Please stay tuned. Today I write about an important issue that is now affecting Italian representation and subsequently Italian Week.

Recently, the Italian Government announced that it intends to close two important and vital consulates in Australia, this decision has sparked significant response from the community as the implication affects everyone. The consulate of Italy holds a significant role in the development of language and culture within the Australian Community and we are currently at risk of losing the consulates. It is for this reason that I am writing to enlist your assistance. We are lobbying the Italian Government with a show of opposition to this decision. Together we can reverse this inappropriate decision.

Please download the petition from this link http://www.italianspirit.com/SaveTheConsulatesInAustralia.doc
Print it off and have all your friends and family sign it. Anyone can sign it.
Then either fax it to +61 7 3356 4522
0R

POST TO PO BOX 1198 STAFFORD BRISBANE QLD 4053 AUSTRALIA

Please dedicate some of your precious time to this important issue. Together we can prevent this from happening.

You can also leave your comments on the Blog http://italianconsulates.blogspot.com/
Thanks for your assistance and time

Best Regards
Alessandro Sorbello
